Adventures in Oz: Fantasy Roleplaying Beyond the yellow Brick Road.
This arrived last week. It looks perfect for surreal and whimsical games with a twisted fairy tale vib.
It even has a map of Oz

What sort of classes does it have, does it even run like that? Also i'm very interested in munchkins, what are they like.
Re: Adventures in Oz: Fantasy Roleplaying Beyond the yellow Brick Road.
It has Templates which are kind of like classes, but they are more of a starting point that you can modify to your hearts content.
There is a Crafted Person, Large Animal, Lost Child, Scholar, Soldier, Noble, Small Animal and a few others I cannot recall.
The basic activities anyone can perform are covered by Skills; Brains, Athletics etc
Traits allow special abilities and further modification of the templates, say you want to make a scrappy teddy bear character, looking at the Crafted Person you notice it is geared more towards Scarecrow and Tinman types. You can pick Soldier and add the Crafted trait to it.
Skills are rated 1-5 and you roll 2d6.
If you roll under your Skill with one dice it is a success, if both are lower than the Skill then it is a special success.

Re: Adventures in Oz: Fantasy Roleplaying Beyond the yellow Brick Road.
that seems really cool, i would be very interested in playing this. so what are some cool trait types?
Re: Adventures in Oz: Fantasy Roleplaying Beyond the yellow Brick Road.
Along with Crafted - Flight, Deadly Weapon and Mighty Blow are arguably the coolest. Many of the other traits are drawbacks like nno arms for wheelers and animals and weaknesses to things - like water.
There is a system to make weird and unique abilities for characters too.

It is a neat game, though I am looking forward to playing Jaws of the Six Serpents first.
Maybe using Skype, Google Hangout or something.

Re: Adventures in Oz: Fantasy Roleplaying Beyond the yellow Brick Road.
well if you can get some people together, i think skype has a limit to the number of people in one conversation, never used google hangout, but i think that would be the same. then it is just a matter of setting side a time. need to test the voice server first so everyone can use it. so we dont have to waste time setting it up.

Cool, I will have to look into that side of things, I might ask around on rpgnet.
I will detail character creation in the next post.
Here is a random idea.
Imagine if a Mythos entity found a weak spot in the metaphysical membrane around Earth, a soft place where reality is less fixed, Oz.
A dark pestilence is spreading and infecting Oz called the Never, it corrupts and warps the people and lands infested.
Glinda seemed to know something about it, but she has vanished. Some say she has been devoured by the Never.

Re: Adventures in Oz: Fantasy Roleplaying Beyond the yellow Brick Road.
To make a munchkin all you would have to do is pick a template that you like, apart from the Crafted Person and Animal templates obviously, then buy your size up or down to 2 which is child sized.
Say it is a Munchkin and tweak it appropriately depending on the characters interests and talents.
You know what, I think an Oz game would be a blast, I have a zillion ideas already, Jaws will just have to wait.
