Trying different settings
I picked up a book about wizards set in a mythic version of medieval Europe called Ars Magica (the art of magic.)
It is not normally my kind of thing (I'm more into present day/futuristic settings,) but I read that it is about the Order of Hermes (which is one of the nine occult traditions in Mage the Ascension- the book that got me into whitewolf.)
Reading around, I have found the game is over 20 years old and has the most well regarded magic systems ever.
Anyway, back to my new shiny book.

I dont have my book handy, but the basics are what you want do (control, create, etc) combined with the thing u want to affect (animals, fire, etc.)
