The two Giaks advancing on True Shield's hiding place falter, as their fellows drop their bags and fall to the ground, one with Moon Fire's arrow through its throat, the other with Sun Star's arrow protruding from its eye. The third is getting to its feet still holding its head from the agony of Rune Heart's mindblast.

Unable to see any of you in the trees the remaining two Giaks look around wildly, panic written all over their faces.

Moon Fire smiles grimly at the accuracy of Sun Star's and her shots. Notching another another arrow, she waits for another clear target.

Bursting from the trees Sword Dancer almost cuts the first Giak in half and severs the second Giaks head from its body.
The foul creature are dead before they hit the ground.

Moon Fire approaches the giak she slew and quickly runs her belt-knife across the giak's throat just to make doubly sure it's fallen, her hand shakes and she's breathing heavily from the adrenaline of the fight. Scanning her surroundings to satisfy herself that there is no remaining visible threat and that her companions are unharmed she turns again to the giak's corpse. Slinging her still strung bow over her shoulder, she retrieves her arrow and checks to see if it still fit for purpose before either replacing it into her quiver or discarding it.

Kneeling on her haunches, she quickly rummages around through it's personal belongings for any indication of why it's so close to the monastery. The size of the group suggests a scouting party and there may very well be a much larger force very near by!

rune heart scans around for any other threats also using six sense to make doubly sure that area is clear. Rune heart speaks to the group, "is there anything of relevance in these foul creatures plunder?"

True Shield regroups with the others and scans the trees in case there are more Giaks hiding.

Sword Dancer wipes the gore from his blade and checks the corpses for items of interest

[Mr Nay]

Examining the Giak's makeshift camp, you notice there are three dead caravan guards two male and one female, all of Sommerlending origin and they look like mercenaries, they have little of worth on them, their coin had been neatly piled next to the broken wagon.

The Giaks have nothing of interest on them, inside the packs are a good deal of luxuries amongst the items; silks, satins, bangles and bracelets. On the other hand, there are also iron chains and a few other things like metal bracelets. Their are four backpacks in total.

The arrows pull easily from the Giak's corpses and are undamaged, looking around the clearing there doesn't seem to be any other tracks apart from the Giaks and the wagon.

Moon Fire carries her giak's backpack to the broken cart, rejoining the other Kai initiates to determine what their next steps will be.

Sun Star slowly makes his way out of the cover he had been hiding in keeping his senses alert and stays a short distance from the group

Moon Fire glances from the dead giaks to the Durncrag mountains to the west, a troubled expression on her face.

"Our immediate task is complete but I suspect there to be more to this than meets the eye. In small bands giaks are dire foes but in sufficient numbers could threaten the very walls of the monastery! The trade goods will keep for now, what hasn't been despoiled by the giaks so far can look after themselves until we can be assured of our safety.

Sun Star, can you send a bird back to Stormsong with a note? We may have less time to respond to this threat than me may think! True Shield, we need to find where these giaks came from, can you track their movements?"

Digging through the ashes of the giak's fire she pulls out a piece of charcoal and from the trade goods either a piece of paper or a torn piece of fabric she writes an account of what has occurred and the intention of scouting the situation further.

Sun Star encourages one of the birds down from the trees and asks politely for a favour the bird agrees and understands the importance of the task

True Shield nods emphatically. He sheathes his sword and encircles the wagon, examining the undergrowth and small plants for signs of the Giaks movements.

Though cleverly covered up, you do find more tracks, alot more.
The tracks are definitely Giaks and it looks like they have been coming and going from the Durncrag mountains for quite a while.

Sword Dancer proposes the following course of action.
1. Gather the remaining valuables and bury them for recovery at a later date.
2. Follow the tracks to seek the truth.
3. Notify the monestary of our actions via bird mail.

It is our primary mission to find out the truth, the recovery of the merchants property is of secondary importance.

Rune Heart looks over the bodies of the Giaks looking for tribal markings or any indications of affiliations to know tribes/gangs then using his understanding of the area to work out where they might be from.

Moon Fire finishes her note to Stormsong and entrusts it to Sun Star for delivery. She then quickly works at concealing the merchant's loot as best she can, no doubt to the amusement of True Shield and Sun Star, who most likely provide advice with their Kai tracking skills!
